8am & 10am Eucharist
Sunday Eucharist at Christ Church
This service features traditional language in its liturgy. Following the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, worship at 8:00am includes readings from both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Testament. Prayers are offered, a sermon is delivered, and the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated. There is no music at this service – other than on Easter Day. It is often described as a more reflective, meditative worship experience than our Musical Sunday Service.
For those familiar with the Book of Common Prayer, this service follows the liturgy of Rite I.
At ten o’clock, our worship includes congregational singing led by our choir, accompanied by a pipe organ; acolytes in procession, and a welcome environment for our youngest members.
Following the prayer book rubrics for Rite II, the liturgy in this service makes use of ‘modern American English’ rather than the more Shakespearean English that is used in the 8:00 am service.
