Music in Worship
Our music on Sunday mornings is a wonderful expression of the creative talents of those in our parish family who are musicians – with their voices and on a variety of instruments. A 3-manual, 52-rank Gress-Miles pipe organ (Organ specifications with photos.) provides a marvelous foundation to the choral excellence of our choir and the strong congregational singing tradition at Christ Church. But don’t be surprised if you also hear a string quartet, a flute, an oboe, a clarinet, or even a jazz saxophone!
Christ Church Choir
The Christ Church Choir sings at church services on a weekly basis September through June. Members come from a wide spectrum of musical backgrounds, but all enjoy the challenges and rewards that result from immersion in the church choral tradition. The choir also sings for concerts and special services throughout the year.
The choir rehearses Wednesday evenings, 7:30-9:30 PM and Sunday mornings before the Eucharist. If you are interested in joining the choir, please contact Laura Russell, our Music Minister, through the church office at 845/452-8220, or by emailing [email protected]
Dr. Laura Ramsey Russell was installed as Music Minister of Christ Church in October, 2015. She started as Choir Director in September 2001, but was also named Organist in June 2007.
