Worship Schedule at Christ Church

Sunday Worship at 8:00am.  This service features traditional language in its liturgy. Following the Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, worship at 8:00am includes readings from both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Christian Testament.  Prayers are offered, a sermon is delivered, and the sacrament of Holy Communion is celebrated.  There is no music at this service – other than on Easter Day.  It is often described as a more reflective, meditative worship experience.

For those familiar with the Book of Common Prayer, this service follows the liturgy of Rite I.

Sunday Worship at 10:00am.  At ten o’clock, our worship includes congregational singing led by our choir, accompanied by a pipe organ; acolytes in procession, and a welcome environment for our youngest members.   Following the prayer book rubrics for Rite II, the liturgy in this service makes use of ‘modern American English’ rather than the more Shakespearean English that is used in the 8:00am service.

Wednesday Worship at 11:00am.  The community is invited to a mid-week service of discussion and Holy Communion on Wednesday mornings ‘during the school year’ - there is no Wednesday Worship during the Summer.  This gathering makes use of a number of resources to discuss and reflect on the life and ministry of an individual who has been recognized as a Saint.  We make reference to the Episcopal Church’s Holy Men, Holy Women as well as Robert Ellsberg’s All Saints: Daily Reflections on Saints, Prophets, and Witnesses for Our Time.
